Medal of Honor Salute by Rees Lloyd
Attorney Rees Lloyd November 26, 2010
A moment of national pride took place recently in the White House when an American soldier, Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta, received the Medal of Honor for bravery above and beyond the call of duty in combat in Afghanistan. Sgt. Giunta became the first living American soldier to receive the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. He is now one of only eighty-eight (88) living holders of the Medal of Honor. As modest and self-effacing as he is brave, Sgt. Giunta said before the ceremony that he was “not at peace” with being “singled out” for the honor as so many other soldiers did so much. And after the ceremony, he said he would trade the honor in a moment if he could bring back those whose lives he attempted to save under enemy fire but was unable to. He definitely showed that he was an American in whom America could be proud. In contrast, there was another “first” at the ceremony involving the Commander-in-Chief, President Barack Hussein Obama, in whose conduct the nation cannot and should not take pride: As far as is known, Obama became the first President, the first Commander-in-Chief , not to salute the living recipient of the Medal of Honor after presenting the medal. It is a tradition in the military for all military personnel, no matter how high their rank, including the Commander-in-Chief, to salute a holder of the Medal of Honor no matter how lowly his or her rank. If General David Petreas was to encounter Sgt. Giunta, it would be the General who would salute the enlisted man, as a sign of respect for that soldier’s extraordinary bravery, but also to show respect to all those who have received the Medal of Honor. At all gatherings of veterans of the American Legion, or VFW, or other veterans organizations, if a Medal of Honor recipient enters the room, even a National Convention involving thousands, the proceedings stop to render military honor to that holder of the Medal of Honor. It is a matter of pride, of respect, of tradition. And, as far as is known, it is tradition that every President who has had the honor to present the Medal of Honor to a living recipient, has shown humility, respect, and national pride in that recipient by stepping back and rendering a salute. It was missing in action in the Obama presentation. He is apparently above all that; “like a God,” as an editor of Newsweek once wrote. Instead of rendering the traditional salute, after fumbling as if all-thumbs in trying to affix the blue-ribboned Medal of Honor, Obama, equally awkwardly, tried to “hug” the Sergeant.
Yes, a “hug” for the soldier who remained at attention with eyes front in military bearing. He is the “Commander-in-Chief” who has in his power the lives of those who serve in defense of the country, which he himself did not deign to do. It is pointing out that this man, this professional politician, repeatedly evidences contempt for America, for America’s traditions, and for Americans who respect those traditions. It is as if he loathes the nation he was so desperate to lead, and be loved by, Messiah-like. It is of a piece with his constant misquoting of the Declaration of Independence by leaving out the words “endowed by their Creator” when speaking of “unalienable rights.” Perhaps more aptly: It is of a pathetic piece with Obama’s penchant for declining to abide by the U.S. Flag Code when the Flag passes to place his hand over his heart. Instead, he drapes his arms down and enfolds his hands at his crotch Michael Jackson-style. It is now mocked as Obama’s “crotch salute.” But it isn’t funny. It is contempt by Obama for the Flag, for America. Perhaps it is unfair to criticize this President of the United States for displaying such contempt for American traditions. Perhaps it is too much to expect an American President to salute a recipient of the military Medal of Honor when that president never served in the uniform of his country;
has said that the Rules For Radicals of the America-hating socialist revolutionist Sol Alinsky are “seared into my [his] brain;” who launched his political career in Chicago from the living room of the revolutionist Weather Underground rich-brat-bombers Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn; and who sat for twenty years in a pew of the church of Rev. “God D...n America” Wright, being marinated in hate-filled, grievance-filled, self-defined “anti-white” and “revolutionary” Black Liberation Theology. Then again, perhaps it is not too much to expect anyone who would be America’s president to at least respect American traditions, including honoring the Flag, and saluting those who receive the Medal of Honor.
Little Bill
When I was about thirteen or fourteen years old, there was a kid we called Little Bill who lived down the street. He was freckle faced and snaggle toothed. His ears were to big and stuck out so far that I always accused him of looking like a wing nut. I don’t remember ever seeing him when he didn’t have a snotty nose. Little Bill was the biggest pain in the butt that ever existed. He was about five years younger than the rest of us and he followed us around all the time. You couldn’t get away from him, and he wouldn’t shut up. He always wanted to know what we were doing and why. No matter what answer you gave him, he wanted more details. We did everything to get rid of him. Once I bet him he couldn’t climb to the top of this huge tree down in the woods even though I had seen him do it before. When he got to the top, we took off running and hid from him. He found us, of course, and apparently thought it was great sport. He walked up laughing, "Whutchalldoin?" We started groaning because he found us and we immediately began planning the next dirty trick to play on Little Bill. Big Bill, Little Bill’s Daddy, had to work a lot of hours to take care of his family of four so he didn’t have as much time to spend with Little Bill as Little Bill needed. I suppose that’s why Little bill followed me around all the time. I still remember his momma hollering out the back door into the woods, "Little Bill, get yourself home before you get hurt, you can’t do everything the big boys do!" As we got older and got driver’s licenses and cars and developed an interest in (ugh) girls, it became easier to get away from Little Bill. If we went anywhere that he could get to though, he would be there, asking questions, getting in the way and just being a general nuisance. About the time that I graduated from high school and went in the Marines, Little Bill showed up over at the house with this little girl he wanted me to meet. She was almost as homely as Little Bill. She had red hair and freckles and was as flat chested as an ironing board. Little Bill had a pair of black slacks that was too short for him a white dress shirt a tie and a pair of dress shoes that had to have belonged to his daddy. His hair was slicked down with some kind of grease. He looked like Alfalfa. He was going on a date and wanted all the big boys to know that he was still following along behind I guess. I went into the Marines, did four years, Vietnam, the whole bit. Got married, got a job, and settled down. Hadn’t seen or heard from Little Bill in years. Then one day I got a call from a friend. "Didja hear about Little Bill? He asked. "No, what’s he done now?" My friend went on to relate the story of how Little Bill, who had followed me everywhere else, joined the Marines the day after he got out of high school, just like I did and had been sent to Vietnam. He was killed near the airbase at Danang. It don’t matter what little Bill’s real name was. It’s one of almost 58,000 engraved on a black granite wall in Washington D.C. he could have been any one of them. Sometimes at night I can hear the echoes of his mama’s voice calling out to him, "little Bill, get yourself home before you get hurt, you can’t do everything the big boy’s do!" I wish he had listened. Have a nice day folks and if you have a quiet moment, you might want to say "Thanks" to little Bill.
A Thankful Heart
By: Helen Steiner Rice
Take nothing for granted,
for whenever you do
The "joy of enjoying"
is lessened for you-
For we rob our own lives
much more than we know
When we fail to respond
or in any way show
Our thanks for the blessings
that daily are ours. . .
The warmth of the sun,
the fragrance of flowers
The beauty of twilight,
the freshness of dawn
The coolness of dew
on a green velvet lawn,
The kind little deeds
so thoughtfully done,
The favours of friends
and the love that someone
Unselfishly gives us
in a myriad of ways
Expecting no payment
and no words of praise-
Oh, great is our loss
when we no longer find
A thankful response
to things of this kind,
For the joy of enjoying
and the fullness of living
Are found in the heart
that is filled with thanks-
giving.
Freedom With a Side of Fries
The health food nuts are coming after burgers
They'll tell you what to eat and what to drink
Don't get me wrong, I wanna be
As healthy as I oughta be,
I just don't wanna be told what I should think.
Now they may offer super-size at Hardees,
But freedom's getting smaller every day.
What we say and what we do,
The governments' controlling you,
And they can't seem to turn the other way.
(chorus)
They say that it's not healthy,
But that's okay with me,
'Cause I can read the menu with my own two eyes.
If you ask me what I want, if I have my choice today,
Well I'll take freedom, with a side of fries.
Now, saturated fat's gone by the wayside,
Tobacco's seen the light of better days.
And I don't even smoke the stuff,
But Washington controlls enough!
They need term limits to help 'em mend their ways.
CHORUS
(final chorus)
Oh, they say that we can't win it,
Just you wait and see,
'Cause I can read the ballot with my own two eyes.
If you ask me what I want, if I have my choice today,
Well I'll take freedom, with a side of fries.
Out of many, one: A message of faith.
Out of many, one: A message of faith.
By Alfredo Ortiz November 22, 2010
Inspired by a recent editorial in The New York Jewish Week, I felt compelled to write a message of not only optimism in the future, but of faith; faith that fellow Americans will once again lift themselves up and move forward, not divided, but united. E Pluribus Unum…Out of many, one.
As most Americans prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, we stand a divided country that is struggling to find its way. Our moral compass has been thrown off by the political extremes that have polarized this country and sowed deep seeded divisiveness in all of our national discussions. The recent midterm elections in many cases, is being read as a mandate for change. Well, I think we have gone down this road before, and have realized that change for change sake, is not the answer. The swinging back and forth of political fortunes to those that sit in our nation’s capital, and all others in political office, makes all of our elected officials short sighted, worried only about the next election and what they need to do to hold office. Our country is struggling and we need leaders; leaders that will stand up and do what is right to make this country better for the generations that follow, not just what is politically expedient. We need leaders that help to remind us of the great things we can do if we are willing to work together. The problems we face are great, and we would like to point to one political party or the other to blame. But the truth of the matter is that we all had a hand to play in this mess that we are in today. From poor to rich, black or white, legal or illegal, young or old, we all had a hand in this. President Kennedy said it best when he stated “And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” In the 2008 elections, we voted for change, but we forgot that we are Americans, and we did not need to change who we were as a Country, but how we acted as Country. We wanted the government to solve our problems for us. The popular slogan of “Yes We Can” that we heard in 2008 was symbolic of what was wrong in our mindset. It is not “we” but “I” that has made this country great, with many “I’s” working together as one. We need to shift to a country again where we state “Yes I Can” and realize that the government is there only to provide support and empower its citizens to do great things for the betterment of all, not to do it for them. On June 20, 1782, the Great Seal was approved by Congress, and in remarks explaining the symbolism of the shield Charles Thompson wrote “The shield is composed of thirteen stripes that represent the several states joined into one solid compact, supporting the chief which unites the whole and represents Congress. The stripes are kept closely united by the chief and the chief depends upon that union and the strength resulting from it.” Note that it stated the chief depends on that union, not the other way around. The strength of this Country, was, is and always should be the strength of the many working as one. The government, whether it be local, state or Federal, should only be there to ensure that the proper frameworks are developed and followed that will allow people of all walks of life to pursue what we fondly call the American Dream. It should be there to ensure that we are able to fully invest the talents that our Creator has placed in our hands for the good of many.
In this same editorial, the author states that there is no clear way forward. This is where I would disagree in that the path forward is and always has been clear if we are willing to follow the words and guidance from our Creator. Our nation feels and is divided, and we must work together not as Republicans, Democrats, liberals or conservatives, but as people of Faith. Faith that God has entrusted many talents in all of us that have helped to build America to the great nation that it is today and faith that if we work together for the betterment of all that we will once again be a great nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.
Give Thanks for Giving. Alfredo Ortiz
A Visit from the SS
You will find this interesting! Yesterday I was visited by the SS Secret Service because of a post I made on FB several months ago that stated obama needed to keep his muslim tail in India and stay at the motel the terrorist attacked.(this was in reference to his muslim affection and maybe if he saw first hand what they did after killing over 100 people there he may change his stance). The SS said it was not a threat but the "new administration" had them visiting (interviewing) people that say things that could be derogatory about obama. WWWOOWWWWWW I am now on their "watchlist". Big Brother is listening and watching!!!!!
I am sure they are reading this also. I must be so boring!!!!!
Good morning David,
I got no interest in Obama changing “his stance”.
I’m passionate about assisting in changing his home address.
We’ve got to get him out of our White House, and dethroned from his seat of power. Period!!
I hate him. I oppose him. I want him replaced by anyone that loves the America envisioned by our founders.
I envision the Oval Office to be the business address of someone who pledged to protect and defend the Constitution of these United States,
not someone with the appearance of rewriting it.
The voices of the patriotic American will not be silenced, nor will they be intimidated by the minions of this administration.
E Pluribus Unim…the posse of paranoia from those of a different mindset, is what paid you a visit the other day.
Stand your ground, speak your mind, and know in your heart that we’ll fix this through the system with our votes in 2012, and that January, 2013 will find us returned to
a nation based on a government of, by and for the people, a government that serves us, not one that expects to be served.
The only unanswered question is where is the leader that understands that, and will rise to take the reins of the republic, with the growth and benefit of the republic his only motivation?
Shoulder to shoulder, and side by side.
God bless us all.
Yeah baby,
MOBY
Homemade Brownies
Two teenagers asked their father if they could go the theatre to watch a movie that all their friends had seen. After reading some reviews about the movie on the Internet, he denied their request.
"Aw dad, why not?" they complained. It is rated PG-13, and we're both older than thirteen!"
Dad replied: "Because that movie contains nudity and portrays immorality as being normal and acceptable behavior."
"But dad, those are just very small parts of the movie! That's what our friends who've seen it have told us. The movie is two hours long and those scenes are just a few minutes of the total film! It¡¦s based on a true story, and good triumphs over evil, and there are other redeeming themes like courage and self-sacrifice. Even the movie review websites say that!"
"My answer is no, and that is my final answer. You are welcome to stay home tonight, invite some of your friends over, and watch one of the good videos we have in our home collection. But you will not go and watch that film. End of discussion."
The two teenagers walked dejectedly into the family room and slumped down on the couch. As they sulked, they were surprised to hear the sounds of their father preparing something in the kitchen. They soon recognized the wonderful aroma of brownies baking in the oven, and one of the teenagers said to the other, "Dad must be feeling guilty, and now he's going to try to make it up to us with some fresh bro wnies. Maybe we can
soften him with lots of praise when he brings them out to us and persuade him to let us go to that movie after all."
About that time I began eating the second brownie from the sandwich bag and wondered if there was some connection to the brownies I was eating and the brownies in the story. I kept reading...
The teens were not disappointed. Soon their father appeared with a plate of warm brownies, which he offered to his kids. They each took one. Then their father said, "Before you eat, I want to tell you something: I love you both so much." The teenagers smiled at each other with knowing glances. Dad was softening. "That is why I've made these brownies with the very best ingredients. I've made them from scratch. Most of the ingredients are even organic. The best organic flour. The best free-range eggs. The best organic sugar. Premium vanilla and chocolate."
The brownies looked mouth-watering, and the teens began to become a little impatient with their dad's long speech.
"But I want to be perfectly honest with you. There is one ingredient I added that is not usually found in brownies. I got that ingredient from our own back yard. But you needn't worry, because I only added the tiniest bit of that ingredient to your brownies. The amount of the portion is practically
insignificant. So go ahead, take a bite and let me know what you think."
"Dad, would you mind telling us what that mystery ingredient is before we eat?"
"Why? The portion I added was so small. Just a teaspoonful.
You won't even taste it."
"Come on, dad, just tell us what that ingredient is."
"Don't worry! It is organic, just like the other ingredients."
"Dad!"
"Well, OK, if you insist. That secret ingredient is fresh organic...dog poop."
I immediately stopped chewing that second brownie and I spit it out into the wastebasket by my desk. I continued reading, now fearful of the paragraphs that still remained. Both teens instantly dropped their brownies back on the plate and began inspecting their fingers with horror.
"DAD! Why did you do that? You've tortured us by making us smell those brownies cooking for the last half hour, and now you tell us that you added dog poop! We can't eat these brownies!"
"Why not? The amount of dog poop is very small compared to the rest of the ingredients. It won't hurt you. It's been cooked right along with the other ingredients. You won't even taste it. It has the same consistency as the brownies. Go ahead and eat!
"No, Dad...NEVER!"
"And that is the same reason I won't allow you to go watch that movie. You won't tolerate a little dog poop in your brownies, so why should you tolerate a little immorality in your movies?
Just Stay (Analogy)
Written & submitted by Jim Moore:
Dear Mr. Moby,
As a loyal member of the Radio Family, I listen to your show religiously each morning while driving in to work. I currently work as a high school teacher of English, this is my second career, I retired from the Army after a 23 year career and my son recently returned from his tour in Afghanistan. As a veteran, of course we appreciate the kind words and warm respect you offer to all service members and their families. But as an English teacher, I often have a different perspective on things I read and hear. By the way, just ‘cause I teach English don’t mean I’m no sissy. Anyway, I listened to this mornings Soap Box, as usual, it was Wednesday morning, but afterwards found myself reflecting on the young Marine and the dying man.
Now here’s the English teacher part. In the world of literature, nothing is literal. Quiet literally, it’s all figurative. While reflecting, I designed that the Old Man represents the people of the United States, who often are frail, unsure of the future, divided in the health of our beliefs. Who often need others to watch over us, make our lives better for us and offer us the safety and security upon which we are often unaware, but have become dependant.
The young Marine represents the Armed Services of our nation; those who put themselves in harms way, who ‘Stay’ where others cannot or will not, because they can and they will. They ask for no special recognition, they take no breaks, even when someone suggests that they should. These service men and women provide the comfort that is needed by the protected members of society.
The Nurses, doctors and whoever else wandered in and out of the man’s room, taking care of various duties, these represent the politicians of our nation, or perhaps those who simply do nothing but check up now and again. Those who wander about creating the squeaking, moaning, rattling noises that emanate from the business that they carry out, seemingly obliviously to the American public and the Armed Services providing the needed safety, security and serenity.
So, I suggest that through the figurative lens of interpretation, the writer of this story offers us an opportunity to realize that regardless of the health of our nation, without concern for all the noise created by the politicians, without the need for a break or even a true understanding of the cause to which they have been dedicated, those Armed Service Members will always be vigilante in the execution of their stated duties. As a segment of our society, these brave men and women will ignore those who do not understand them, those who would expect them to leave and then return at a more convenient time. Their missions will not be swayed by political rhetoric and regardless of how much they are appreciated or disdained; they will continue to hold the ailing hand of America, an America with which they may not even be acquainted.
Sleep fast tonight, America, even though you be blinded by age, health, political allegiances or political infighting. Sleep fast tonight, America, even though you be ill of moral health, religious or social indifference. Sleep fast tonight, America, because somehow, somewhere someone is holding your hand
Just Stay
A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside.
“Your son is here,” she said to the old man.
She had to repeat the words several times before the patient’s
eyes opened.
Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he
dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent.
He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around
the old man’s limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.
The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside
the bed.All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly
lighted ward, holding the old man’s hand and offering him words of love
and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away
and rest awhile.
He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine
was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital – the clanking
of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging
greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.
Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man
said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.
Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the
now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse.
While she did what she had to do, he waited.
Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy,
but the Marine interrupted her.
“Who was that man?” he asked.
The nurse was startled, “He was your father,” she answered.
“No, he wasn’t,” the Marine replied. “I never saw him before in
my life.”
“Then why didn’t you say something when I took you to him?”
“I knew right away there had been a mistake,
but I also knew he needed his son, and his
son just wasn’t here.
When I realized that he was too sick to tell
whether or not I was his son,
knowing how much he needed me, I stayed.”
The next time someone needs you … just be there. Stay.

Missouri has NO illegal Aliens
Missouri has NO illegal Aliens....(THIS IS TRUE) Interesting: Missouri's approach to the problem of illegal immigration appears to be more advanced, sophisticated, strict and effective than anything to date in Arizona.
So, why doesn't Missouri receive attention?
Answer: There are no Mexican illegal's in Missouri to demonstrate.
The "Show Me" state has once again showed us how it should be done.
In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment designating English as the official language of Missouri. In November, 2008, nearly 90% voted in favor! Thus English became the official language for ALL governmental activity in Missouri. No individual has the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.
In 2008 a measure was passed that required the Missouri Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person is found to be in Missouri illegally. Missouri law enforcement officers receive specific training with respect to enforcement of federal immigration laws.
In Missouri illegal immigrants do NOT have access to taxpayers benefits such as food stamps and health care through Missouri Health NET. In 2009 a measure was passed that ensures Missouri's public institutions of higher education do NOT award financial aid to individuals who are illegally in the United States. In Missouri all post-secondary institutions of higher education must annually certify to the Missouri Dept. of Higher Education that they have NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are unlawfully present in the United States.
Missouri has made it clear that illegal immigrants are NOT welcome in the state and they will certainly NOT receive public benefits at the expense of Missouri taxpayers.
Actual Passport Letter
Dear Sirs,
I'm in the process of renewing my passport, and still cannot believe this. How is it that Radio Shack has my address and telephone number and knows that I bought a cable TV from them back in1987, and yet, the Federal Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date.
For goodness sakes, do you guys do this by hand? My birth date you have on my
social security card, and it is on all the income tax forms I've filed for the past 30 years. It is on my health insurance card, my driver's license, on the last eight damn passports I've had, on all those stupid customs declaration forms I've had to fill out before being allowed off the plane over the last 30 years, and all those insufferable
census forms that are done at election times.
Would somebody please take note, once and for all, that my mother's name is
Maryanne, my father's name is Robert and I'd be absolutely astounded if that
ever changed between now and when I die!!!!!!
I apologize, I'm really POed this morning. Between you an' me, I've had enough of this BS! You send the application to my house, then you ask me for my address? What is going on? Do you have a gang of Neanderthals working there!
Look at my darn picture. Do I look like Bin Laden? I don't want to dig upYasser Arafat, I just want to go and park my posterior on a sandy beach.
And would someone please tell me, why would you care whether I plan on visiting a farm in the next 15 days? If I ever got the urge to do something weird to a chicken or a goat, believe you me, I'd sure as heck not want to tell anyone!
Well, I have to go now, 'cause I have to go to the other end of the city and get another copy of my birth certificate, to the tune of $60. Would it be so complicated to have all the services in the same spot to assist in the issuance of a new passport the same day?? Nooooo, that'd be too darn easy and maybe make sense. You'd rather have us running all over the place like chickens with our heads cut off, then find some idiot to confirm that it's really me on the darn picture - you know, the one where we're not allowed to smile?! (bureaucratic morons) Hey, you know why we can't smile?
We're totally POed
Signed - An Irate Citizen.
P.S.. Remember what I said above about the picture and getting someone to confirm that it's me? Well, my family has been in this country since 1776.......I have served in the military for something over 30 years and have had security clearances up the yingyang..........However, I have to get someone 'important' to verify who I am - you know, someone like my doctor WHO WAS BORN AND RAISED IN INDIA!
You Sure In The Heck Should Know Who I Am....... .........and you want to run our health care system???
Human History (Condensed)
For those that don't know about history... Here is a condensed version:
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups: 1 . Liberals, & 2. Conservatives.
Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to BBQ at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement...
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly BBQ's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.
Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. They became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass for obvious reasons.
Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud or Coors. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, engineers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today's lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to this before deciding it’s simply right wined lunacy.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that they’ll immediately share it with other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.
And there you have it, period. Let your next action reveal your true self, I'm going to have another beer.
As the Wind Blows On
Not too many years ago, my Mom was watching Larry King Live when they showed a clip of the widow of SFC Nathan Chapman, the first American soldier to die from hostile fire in Afghanistan. His young wife was at the graveside ceremony for her husband holding their small son who was asleep in her arms. It was wintertime and there was a strong wind blowing in the background, and she held their baby closer to her to keep him warm.
Mom was so touched by the grieving widow she immediately got up and wrote down her feelings in a poem. When I read the poem, I knew right away I had to make it into a song, so I changed things around a bit, added a chorus and put it to music. My producer, Chip Martin, helped me turn it into a beautiful song. We dedicate it to all those who have died in war and left loved ones behind.
Then, a couple of years ago, Nathan Chapman’s brother emailed Mom. She had left a note on a Veterans’ website asking if anyone could locate the parents of Nathan Chapman for her. The manager of the website contacted Nathan’s brother, who emailed Mom. She told him about the song and he sent her his parents’ address. Mom sent the CD to Nathan Chapman’s parents with a note telling them how she had been inspired to write the song when she saw a clip of Nathan’s wife at the graveside ceremony with her baby son in her arms. Nathan Chapman’s father even called Mom on her cell phone. He told her how much he and his wife loved the song. My mom told me, “Cindy, he actually started crying telling me how much it meant to them.” Sometime later, the Chapman’s left a note on my brother, Robert Baker’s, website, a firefighter, who passed away. The note reads:
As the parents of SFC Nathan Chapman, the first American soldier to die from hostile fire in Afghanistan, we want to say how proud we are of Bobby. We often ask ourselves, "Where do we get such men and women who are willing to take on the dangerous work of keeping us safe and free." People like those who serve in our fire departments, our police forces, and our military. They stand ready to sacrifice everything for the rest of us, and when they are taken from us, we not only experience a tremendous personal loss, but the nation and our communities suffer an equally tragic loss. A Marine's Last Will and Testament
I, an old Mud Marine, being of sound mind, do hereby create this Marine Codicil to my Last Will and Testament, through which I Bequeathed all my worldly goods and possessions to those beloved of me in Life. This Marine Codicil is to pass on the intangible gifts I received as a Marine, which were beyond the price men put upon worldly possessions.
I have attested to being of "Sound Mind." That may be challenged by Those who think that all Marines are crazy. We have enjoyed and magnified That reputation, of course, to bemuse our friends and intimidate our Enemies. As a Navy Psychologist once told me, "The trouble with treating Marines is that if you cure them, they can't be Marines!" But ours are Really the soundest of mi nds, for the life of our free society depends on Warriors. If you do away with us, our civilization commits suicide, surely The ultimate mark of insanity. If there comes a day when there is no longer a Marine Corps, the American Idea will die soon after.
To all my Marine brothers and sisters, now and in generations to Come, I leave the legacy of our Corps, stretching back to November 10, 1775. It was bequeathed to me by generations of Marines who served before me, who "grew gray in war," and who gave me those priceless traditions "such as Regiments hand down forever." I have tried in my small way to add to its Strength and burnish its luster. Go you and do the same.
To those Marines I served with, I leave my rich stock of Sea Stories, a few of which are even true, that you may embellish them and pass Them on to other Marines, to awed members of our sister services and, Sanitized for language, to civilians. I also leave you the gratitude of a Brother, for you stood by me, cared for me in trouble, and inspired me with Your deeds. To my Marine DIs, I leave a debt unpaid. The discipline and pride You instilled in me guided me long after I had to shed the uniform for the Last time. Thanks to what you did in a few short months, I have had a great Life. I've tried to make you proud of me every day and to pay a bit on that Debt through my service to my country and my fellow Marines, both in the Corps and in civilian life afterwards.
To my family I leave a few old photos, a few mementos and a service To country in which I hope you take pride as I have. However they serve, I Hope future generations of our family find something larger than self to Serve, worthy of their time and commitment. There is no happiness in serving The ever-greedy god of self, the root of our world's troubles.
To our nation's elected leaders, I leave the Core Values of our Corps; Honor, Courage, Commitment. Imagine if candidates for public office Adopted our values as a campaign platform. Imagine candidates with the Honor To tell people the truth and to not trade their support on issues for Campaign contributions or personal perks. Imagine elected officials with the Courage to do what was right for the next generation, rather than what was Popular to win cheap votes for the next election? Imagine office holders With the Commitment to serve selflessly, live austerely, and do the right Regardless of personal cost?
And to the Republic, the country I love, I leave my service. It was Little enough payment on the debt every American owes her for the freedoms We have, for the life we live and for the opportunities we and our loved Ones have received in this land. When people thank me for my service, I say, "It was a privilege to wear the uniform of the Republic and to earn the Title Marine."
I must go now, but I leave my country a new generation of Marines, Standing watch out on the lines, putting their bone and blood between the Barbarians and our free people, the few guarding the many with their lives. God grant it may ever be so.

When Your Hut is on Fire
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions.
One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost.
He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?" Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island!
It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
Moral of the Story:
It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad or things have caused undue stress, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain, suffering, or stress. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.
At Twenty One
Twenty one years ago today I was 21 years old myself and giving birth to my first child. This was meant to be a joyous time, full of anticipation and excitement. Well, I guess you could say we were anticipating something, but not what would typically be anticipated during a delivery and there wasn't much excitement in the air. Arielle was to be born with multiple physical ailments. I am sure there were many emotions that day but the one that I remember most is PEACE. I especially remember thinking, "God won't give us more than we can handle." Arielle was born with CHARGE syndrome, Spina Bifida, deafness, and she was legally blind. Soon after her birth, Arielle had to be taken into surgery to repair something called an omphalocele (protrusion of abdominal contents through an opening at the navel). A week after that, the spinal fluid that was in a protruding sack covered by skin on her back had to be put back into her spine. We were very quickly aware of her visual problems and not long after, her hearing problem. Still, we were comforted. We even had comments from others saying “we needed to grieve" or "we are in denial". How wrong they were. God was with us! I try to remain a positive person, but I won't lie and say it has been an easy road. It has been a difficult 21 years. Arielle has been through multiple surgeries; in her early years she was constantly sick with bladder and kidney infections; she would fight feedings for 9 years until we had no choice but to put a feeding tube in; she is physically handicapped; and a few years ago she lost all of her vision. If we were asked what the most difficult part is, Ron and I would easily agree that because of her trouble with communication, she is self abusive, and there is nothing much harder than seeing/ hearing your child hurt herself and not being able to comfort her. I could go on and on, but I do not want to focus on the suffering, I want to focus on the blessing. Some people might wonder how a life like hers can be a blessing. For instance, there have been doctors that advised us to abort her for “science”, doctors that scolded us for not having aborted her when we knew she was going to be “disabled”, doctors that accused me of doing drugs during the pregnancy, and doctors that in the emergency room advised us to take her home and let her “go” when they didn’t know what was wrong with her. We’ve been turned away from churches and told as pastoral staff that we needed to deal with the “Arielle problem”. I think it so sad that these people don’t know Arielle…I mean, REALLY know her! She might not be able to share with you her feelings about life or her hopes or dreams for the future, but she is a person full of personality. If you “know” Arielle, you have been blessed as well.
Because of my daughter I have learned to sacrifice, look for the positive in all situations, and love immensely. I have learned patience, kindness, and mercy. The day Arielle was born, God got my attention. I was already a Christian, but I had a lot of growing to do and God was going to use Arielle to help me do that. Arielle has become my testimony. I want people to see the joy I have in the Lord through all of my circumstances good and bad, and to know I give God the glory through all things. I want to show how I depend on Him to get me through the tough times. And most of all, I want them to see my Faith! In 2 Corinthians 12:9, God told Paul after he had begged God to remove the thorn from his flesh, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. I would feel blessed to know He was using me! In a song written by Ginny Owens, she writes these lyrics, “I don’t know the reason why you brought me here. But just because you love me the way that you do”… “so if all of these trials bring me closer to you”… “I’ll remember the suffering your love put you through and I will go through the valley if you want me to”. Whatever He wants me to do, that is what I will do…with JOY!
Happy 21st birthday, Arielle! I love you!
What's Wrong with our Country
SO 'Pathetically' TRUE..................
We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors,
Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.?????????
In the past months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey.
Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid or get any breaks while our Government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Millions of $$$$$'s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!
We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.
USA a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, Elderly going without 'needed' meds, and Mentally ill without treatment etc, etc.
YET.........They had a 'Benefit' for the people of Haiti On 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, Doctors and medical supplies.
Another $23.5 million to bring 1,500 Palestinian families to live in the U.S., including houses and jobs.
Imagine if our *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other Countries.
Sad isn't it?
Hope you voted Nov 2nd!!!! Stand by, hopefully help is on the way.
Only in Texas
President Barack Obama was in the Oval Office when his telephone rang. "Hello, President Obama " a heavily accented southern voice said. "This is Archie, down here at the Joes Crab Shack, Houston Texas , I am callin' to tell ya’ll that we are officially declaring war on ya!"
"Well Archie," Barack replied, "This is indeed important news! How big is your army ?"
"Right now," said Archie, after a moments calculation "there is myself, my cousin Harold, my next-door-neighbor Randy, and the whole dart team from Hooters. That makes eight!"
Barack paused. "I must tell you Archie that I have one million men in my army waiting to move on my command."
"Wow," said Archie. "I'll have at call ya back!"
Sure enough, the next day, Archie called again. "Mr. Obama, the war is still on! We have managed to acquire some infantry equipment!"
"And what equipment would that be Archie?" Barack asked.
"Well sir, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Harry 's farm tractor."
President Obama sighed. "I must tell you Archie, that I have 16,000 tanks and 14,000 armored personnel carriers. Also I've increased my army to one and a half million since we last spoke."
"Lord above", said Archie, "I'll be getting back to ya."
Sure enough, Archie rang again the next day. "President Obama, the war is still on! We have managed to git ourselves airborne! We up an' modified Harold’s ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit, and four boys from the Legion have joined us as well!"
Barack was silent for a minute then cleared his throat. "I must tell you Archie that I have 10,000 bombers and 20,000 fighter planes. My military complex is surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missile sites. And since we last spoke, I've increased my army to TWO MILLION!"
"Oh Lord," said Archie, "l'll have at call you back."
Sure enough, Archie called again the next day. " President Obama! I am sorry to have to tell you that we have had to call off this here war."
"I'm sorry to hear that" said Barack. "Why the sudden change of heart?"
“Well, sir," said Archie, "we've all sat ourselves down and had a long chat over a few beers, and come to realize that there's just no way we can feed two million prisoners." TEXAS CONFIDENCE CANNOT BE SHAKEN*
Dear Mom and Dad
Dear Mom and Dad,
Our Scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw the flood on TV and got worried. We are okay. Only one of our tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away. Luckily, none of us got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for Adam when it happened.
Oh yes, please call Adam's mother and tell her he is okay. He can't write because of the cast. I got to ride in one of the search and rescue Jeeps.
It was great. We never would have found Adam in the dark if it hadn't been for the lightning.
Scoutmaster Ted got mad at Adam for going on a hike alone without telling anyone. Adam said he did tell him, but it was during the fire so he probably didn't hear him.
Did you know that if you put gas on a fire, the gas will blow up?
The wet wood didn't burn, but one of the tents did and also some of our clothes.
Matthew is going to look weird until his hair grows back.
We will be home on Saturday if Scoutmaster Ted gets the bus fixed. It wasn't his fault about the crash. The brakes worked okay when we left. Scoutmaster Ted said that with a bus that old, you have to expect something to break down; that's probably why he can't get insurance.
We think it's a super bus. He doesn't care if we get it dirty, and if it's hot, sometimes he lets us ride on the bumpers. It gets pretty hot with 45 people in a bus made for 24. He let us take turns riding in the trailer until the policeman stopped and talked to us.
Scoutmaster Ted is a neat guy. Don't worry, he is a good driver. In fact, he is teaching Horace how to drive on the mountain roads where there aren't any cops. All we ever see up there are huge logging trucks.
This morning all of the guys were diving off the rocks and swimming out to the rapids.
Scoutmaster Ted wouldn't let me because I can't swim, and Adam was afraid he would sink because of his cast (it's concrete because we didn't have any plaster), so he let us take the canoe out. It was great.
You can still see some of the trees under the water from the flood.
Scoutmaster Ted isn't crabby like some scoutmasters. He didn't even get mad about the life jackets. He has to spend a lot of time working on the bus so we are trying not to cause him any trouble.
Guess what? We have all passed our first aid merit badges. When Andrew dived into the lake and cut his arm, we all got to see how a tourniquet works.
Steve and I threw up, but Scoutmaster Ted said it was probably just food poisoning from the left-over chicken.
He said they got sick that way with food they ate in prison. I'm so glad he got out and became our scoutmaster.
He said he sure figured out how to get things done better while he was doing his time. By the way, what is a pedal-file?
I have to go now. We are going to town to post our letters and buy some more beer and ammo. Don't worry about anything. We are fine and tonight it's my turn to sleep in the Scoutmaster's tent. Hugs and kisses, Christopher
Hyphens
There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism.... A hyphenated American is not an American at all... Americanism is a matter of the spirit, and of the soul...The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, African-Americans, Muslim-Americans, French-Americans...each preserving its separate nationality.... There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The Hyphen, Webster's Dictionary defines, is a symbol used to divide a compound word or a single word. So it seems to me that when a man calls himself An "African-American," or a "Mexican-American," or an "Italian-American," or an "Irish-American," or a "Jewish-American," or a “Muslim-American,” what he's saying is, "I'm a divided American." Well, we all came from other places, different creeds and different races, to form a nation... to become as one, yet look at the harm a line has done, the hyphen, a simple little line, and yet as divisive as a line can get.
A crooked cross the Nazis flew, and the Russian hammer and sickle too. Time bombs in the lives of Man; But none of these could ever fan the flames of hatred faster than the Hyphen.
The Russian hammer built a wall that locked men's hearts from freedom's call. A crooked cross flew overhead above twenty million tragic dead, among them men from this great nation, who died for freedom's preservation. A hyphen is a line that's small; It can be a bridge or be a wall. A bridge can save you lots of time; A wall you always have to climb.
The road to liberty lies true. The Hyphen's use is up to you. Used as a bridge, it can span all the differences of Man. Being free in mind and soul should be our most important goal. If you use the Hyphen as a wall, you'll make your life mean...and small.
An American is a special breed, whose people came to her in need. They came to her that they might find a world where they'd have peace of mind. Where men are equal...and something more, stand taller than they stood before. So you be wise in your decision, and that little line won't cause division. Let's join hands with one another... for in this land, each man's your brother. United we stand...divided we fall. WE'RE AMERICANS...and that says it all.
A combination of quotes from Theodore Roosevelt & John Wayne, the Duke.
God Bless You!
Richard Von Scherr
Twas the Night Before Election
'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!
I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political rap.
When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys
They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!
He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink
He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!
"On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi"
He screamed at the pairs!
They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!
So I leave you to think
On this one final note --
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!
