Death of Common Sense
An Obituary printed in the London Times Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: - Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, tell others he’s gone. If not, join the majority and do nothing.
Why did Bernie Maddoff Go to Prison
Why did Bernie Madoff go to prison? To make it simple, he talked people into investing with him. Trouble was, he didn't invest their money. As time rolled on he simply took the money from the new investors to pay off the old investors. Finally there were too many old investors and not enough money from new investors coming in to keep the payments going.
Next thing you know Madoff is one of the most hated men in America and he is off to jail.
Some of you know this. But not enough of you. Madoff did to his investors what the government has been doing to us for over 70 years with Social Security. There is no meaningful difference between the two schemes, except that one was operated by a private individual who is now in jail, and the other is operated by politicians who enjoy perks, privileges and status in spite of their actions.
BERNIE MADOFF SOCIAL SECURITY
Takes money from investors with the promise that the money will be invested and made available to them later.
Takes money from wage earners with the promise that the money will be invested in a "Trust Fund" and made available later.
Instead of investing the money Madoff spends it on nice homes in the Hamptons and yachts.
Instead of depositing money in a Trust Fund the politicians use it for general spending and vote buying.
When the time comes to pay the investors back Madoff simply uses some of the new funds from newer investors to pay back the older investors. When benefits for older investors become due the politicians pay them with money taken from younger and newer wage earners to pay the geezers.
When Madoff's scheme is discovered all hell breaks loose. New investors won't give him any more cash. When Social Security runs out of money they simply force the taxpayers to send them some more.
Bernie Madoff is in jail.
Politicians remain in Washington ...

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month…listen Dear Mr. Moby I was just listening to you on the radio, & you talked about the lady that walked into the Verizon store that was me !!! The minute you started telling it I knew it was me I still have our picture that we took together. I also came to see 5 or 6 weeks ago you were there and I have another picture. I am sitting on your lap with my radio station t- shirt in front of me. I'm still hanging in there getting stronger all the time. I respect you so much for what you do. To tell u the truth, I had never given breast cancer a second thought until I found that lump in my breast and called my DR. Everything after that for a couple of months seemed like a bad dream. Now I don't mind talking about it to men or women. Its serious and there is no cure for it. Just like for me I'm still not out of the woods I'll have to take a anti-cancer pill for the next 5 yrs. but like I told you, I'm gonna be a survivor. Women do need to get those mammograms each year, but most importantly they need to do self breast exams. That’s how I found mine. I had just had a mammogram 7 months prior to finding the lump. So, I have gone from someone who never gave breast cancer a second thought to someone who wants to talk about the importance of it. It’s very hard on a woman and her family. No one has any idea everything a woman has to go through once she is diagnosed with it. Anyway I just wanted to let you know, and thank you and Mary Beth for what you do . Tell her hi for me. I meet her that day at Verizon too. I hope and pray for your little girl and all little girls that they wear pink ribbons in their hair and never on their shirts.
I only wish I could talk to men and women who like me has never given it a second thought till it hits u like a rock God Bless You!!
Sincerely,
Glenda Cotner Page

You've Got Two Weeks
What I really believe is the most important election in American History is 2 weeks from today.
Right-minded Americans, there’s nothing more important than getting to the polls that day, and using the only real voice you have to save our republic, and begin to swing the patriotic pendulum of democracy back somewhere near the center, where it should be, and forever remain.
I agree with some of the smartest people I know, that this might well be our last chance to save these United States, & our last opportunity to proudly keep old glory waving over this land of the free and home of the brave. This might well be a new beginning, or perhaps the final curtain on the greatest country the world has ever known.
Regardless of how you voted in ’08, do you feel that you’re living with the change you feel you were promised as this emperor campaigned? I certainly do not. Has anything in your day-to-day life improved since the gauntlet was passed in January ’09? It’s only become more challenging at my house. How about at yours?
Have you, as a patriotic American ever felt the need to apologize for America? I challenge anyone to read the tombstones at Arlington, and try to find one apologetic sentiment in your soul. None’s in mine.
Do you know even one person that you respect in the slightest that could say Obama has perpetuated their vision of the American Dream?
My dream is for prosperity for America & Americans. My dream is to leave in my wake an America stronger and more stable for my children and grandchildren than the America my parents left me, and their parents left them. Doesn’t that now seem unlikely to you?
In 2 short weeks, without our united voices being heard from every American polling place, it’s not unlikely, it’s impossible.
If you don’t feel the parental & patriotic obligation to vote on November 2nd, then you haven’t been paying any attention at all.
There isn’t a gray area here. There’s only right and wrong.
There’s the America that our founding fathers conceived, and handed to the next generation, and they handed to the next, and them to the next, & so it went for the next 2 and a quarter centuries, until early in the 21st century, when a man of questionable qualities & unproven qualifications conned our country into believing that government’s role in the lives of Americans is that of nose-wiping nursemaid, and not perpetuating a God-given foundation of individual independence, accomplishment, and a republic where government gets its direction from the citizens, not vice versa.
Relinquish your liberty, and your personal independence, or stand straight & strong, and tell the federal government to get the heck out of your & your families lives.
You’ve got two weeks, and the choice is yours, but for God’s sake, let your voice be heard while there’s still even the slightest chance your lone voice holds any relevance what so ever.

Cherish Today
One of these day's you'll shout, "Why don't you kids grow up and act your age?" . . . and they will. Or "You guys get outside and find something to do, and don't slam the door!"... And they won't.
You'll straighten up the boy's room neat and tidy ...bumper stickers discarded...spread tucked and smooth...toys displayed on the shelves...and you'll say loudly, "Now, I want it to stay this way!"...and it will.
You'll prepare a perfect dinner with a salad that hasn't been picked to death and a cake with no finger traces in the icing and you'll say, "Now, there's a meal for company!...and you'll eat it alone.
You'll say, "I want complete privacy on the phone. No dancing around, no pantomime, no demolition crews...SILENCE! Do you hear?" ...and you'll have it.
No more plastic tablecloths stained with spaghetti. No more bedspreads to protect the sofa from damp bottoms. No more gates to stumble over at the top of the basement steps. No more playpens to arrange a room around.
No more anxious nights with a vaporizer tent. No more sand on the sheets or Popeye movies in the bathroom. No more iron-on patches; wet knotted shoestrings; tight boots; or rubber bands for pony tails.
Imagine have a lipstick with a point on it! No babysitter for New Year's Eve. Doing laundry only once a week. Seeing a steak that isn't ground. Having your teeth cleaned without a baby on your lap. No PTA meetings. No carpools. No blaring radios. No one washing her hair at 11 o'clock at night, Having your own roll of Scotch tape!
Think about it. No more Christmas presents made out of toothpicks and paste. No more sloppy oatmeal kisses. No more Tooth Fairy. No giggles in the dark. No knees to heal, no responsibility.
Only a voice crying, "Why don't you grow up?"...and the silence echoing..."I did.!"

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that. Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did. Then God made the world.
He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet. Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.
Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his broth er as long as he was Abel. Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.
One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a big boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.
After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.
Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable. God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti.
Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff. Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother. One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.
After Joshua came David He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.
After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed upon the shore. There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.
After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of the New Testament. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn, too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')
During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees the Democrats and the Republicans. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.
Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount. But the Democrats and the Republicans and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.
Any way's, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.
The End
Our Leader of Our U.S.
From: Patricia Hughes
moby, i get in my car every thursday morning to go to my 83 year old mothers house to take her on errands for the week.... she & i both get sick & tired of u talking so bad about our leader of our u.s.!!! i understand u have a right to what u think as we do . my mom who has read the bible from front to back 3 times says we all should pray for him & our country & honor him . i want to know how u felt about McCain & Palin ? do u think they would have made a differance in the u.s. in such a short time ? i don't know the answer to this ,but i feel like they would have been a JOKE other countrys would have laughed at all of us , besides obama didn't put us in such bad shape he inherated it . As my husband & i set & go through his 401k & it want be long before we start on his retirement ( he's only 43 ) i know we are not the only ones living like this, still is it his fault ????? my husband found a job making only half of what we was making , is this obamas fault or the company that he works for ,i feel u are blaming the wrong person ,blame the owers of businesses that is taking advantage of they'er workers by paying them less b/c they can b/c they gotta have a job. i would like to know what u think about companys that give high beads on jobs ,but the ones doing the jobs get paid only a small amount ? i could go on & on but want i 'm just saying u know lifes hard. i have never thought whats happen to us was obamas fault !!!!!!! please think about what u are doing when u speack sooooo badly about our leader. laugh at me & make one of your smart remarks if u want to0) " please excuse my bad spellinng"
My Dear Patricia,
I couldn’t disagree more, but I recognize, and honor your right to feel as you do.
There’s no doubt the he has obligated us to more national debt then every president that came before him combined.
I pray for you & your sweet & saintly mother. I pray for me & my family. I pray for America.
I certainly honor the office of president of these United States, but the man that currently occupies it? I pray that we can simply survive this worst president that has ever sat in the Oval Office.
Perhaps on November 2nd, we can succeed in swinging the patriotic pendulum back closer to center, and in so doing, neuter the Marxist/socialist in chief.
Excuse my inflexibility, but I love America too much to feel otherwise.
God bless, protect, & shelter us all.
Yeah baby,

Obama is Rebuilding The American Dream
This Lady Says Obama is amazing and is Rebuilding The American Dream This is worth your time to read --
Written by an 82-year old very wise lady. She gives us a whole new slant on the job Obama is doing:
That is right - I will say it, "THANK GOD FOR THE PRESIDENT."
He destroyed the Clinton Political Machine - Driving a stake thru the heart of Hillary's Presidential aspirations - something that no Republican was ever able to do. Remember when a Hillary Presidency scared the daylights out of you!
He killed off the Kennedy Dynasty - No more Kennedys trolling Washington looking for booze and women wanting rides home. American women and Freedom are safer tonight!
He is destroying the Democratic Party before our eyes! Dennis Moore who had never lost a race - quit. Evan Bayh had never lost a race – quit. Byron Dorgan had never lost a race – quit. Harry Reid - soon to be GONE. These are just a handful of the Democrats whose political careers Obama has destroyed! By the end of 2010, dozens more will be gone. In December of 2008, the Democrats were on the rise. In the last two election cycles, they had picked up 14 senate seats and 52 house seats. The press was touting the death of the Conservative Movement and the Republican Party. In just one year, Obama put a stop to all of this and will probably give the House, if not the Senate, back to the Republicans.
He has completely exposed liberals and progressives for what they are. Every Generation seems to need to re-learn the lesson on why they should never actually put liberals in charge. He is bringing home the lesson very well. Liberals tax, borrow and spend – check. Liberals won't bring themselves to protect America - check. Liberals want to take over the economy - check. Liberals think they know what is best for everyone-check. Liberals aren't happy till they are running YOUR life–check.
He has brought more Americans back to conservatism than anyone since Reagan. In one year, he has rejuvenated the Conservative movement and brought out to the streets millions of Freedom Loving Americans. Name me one other time in your life that you saw your friends and neighbors this interested in taking back America!
His amazing leadership has sparked the greatest period of sales of firearms and ammunition this country has seen. Law abiding citizens have rallied and have provided a "stimulus" to the sporting goods field while other industries have failed, faded or moved off-shore.
In all honesty, one year ago I was more afraid than I have been in my life. Not of the economy, but of the direction our country was going. I thought Americans had forgotten what this country was all about. My neighbors, friends and strangers proved to me that my lack of confidence of the Greatness and Wisdom of the American people was flat wrong.
When the American People wake up, no smooth talking teleprompter reader can fool them! Barack Obama woke up these Great Americans! Again, I want to say, "Thank You Barack Obama!"
This is exactly the kind of hope and change we desperately needed!
The Gray-Haired Brigade
They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "baby boomer" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshipped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill and that is probably true.
But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration. In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. Yes, we lived those days.
We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II and fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote the pledge of allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America , we fought for the "land of the free and home of the brave." We know the words to the Star Spangle Banner, America , and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read about in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America .
Yes, we are older and slower these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent. It was the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic congress. They fell for the "Hope and change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and lies." They have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found they didn't like it after all.
They make a lot of noise but most are all too interested in their careers and "Climbing the social ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. It appears that we care more about our grandchildren than some care about their children. Many of those who fell for the "great lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave them, they didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the kool-aid. Now they are paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what they voted for and this is what we all got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house. Well, don't worry youngsters, the Gray Haired Brigade is here, and in less than a month we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in November we're going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the Muslim in the White House or to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to We the People, and We the People plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.
So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the Gray-Haired Brigade.
George Washington said:
"The price of Freedom is Constant Alertness; constant willingness to fight back...there is no other price..."
Reasons and Seasons
People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you’ve expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then without any wrongdoing on your part or at a convenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk just away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done, and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a season, because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you how to do something you’ve never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it; it is real, but only for a season.
Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you’ve learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind, but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank those that are parts of your life, whether they’ve come for a reason, a season, or for a lifetime. Angels exist, only they haven’t got wings. We call them friends.
Comments in regards to VFW from 10/7
Dear Moby,
I was listening to your show this morning on my way into work and heard you talking about employers searching out employees at their local VFW and you had talked about how a veteran said that the country is completely different from when he was in Vietnam. Back then people either loved or hated the troops but now we are just silent. Some out there are silent, but not all. I am a traditional reservist and I recently returned home from a deployment overseas back in August. Our plane landed state-side late at night and it was all military personnel on the flight. Once we were processed through customs we walked through this tunnel and were welcomed by a crowd of people cheering, clapping, ringing bells and whistling. They were lined up young, old, me, women and children to shake our hands, give out goodie bags and just to say “thank you.” This was a very touching moment. These were complete strangers on their time showing their appreciation to us. This was not our final destination just the first place we landed, but the show of patriotism and appreciation is not something I will forget.
To all those who participate in any kind of activity, whether it is being at the airport when a plane lands or sending care packages to deployed location, your deeds are not unnoticed. We greatly appreciate all that you do for us. It has such a powerful impact I wish I could explain it better. Thank you and please continue all that you do so that others can relish in what I did.
Thank you,
Nina Trexler
Dear Moby,
This is a great letter, and I am so pleased that this young lady had this experience. As you know I just retired from the Army myself and as such I know that all flights from Iraq, or Afgahnistan enter the U.S. thru Atlanta. This is great because I can see the positive effect of the VFW on our troops. The Atlanta airport houses the Atlanta branch of the USO, together with the VFW all military fights comming thru Atlanta are met by our Veterans, VFW Department Commander, Leo Ott along with our Chaplain Jim Gray run this "Operation Outreach" program welcoming every military flight comming home. Thank you for sharing this letter with me, I hope that all of her continued experiences are as positive, but we (VFW) will allways be here for her and all our Troops.
VFW, we honor our dead by helping the living.

The Other Woman
After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and movie. She said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would Love to spend some time with you.' The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my Mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally. That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. 'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked? My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news. 'I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,' I responded 'just the two of us.' She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much.' That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's. 'I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed,' she said, as she got into the car...'They can't wait to hear about our meeting.' We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half-way through the entrees, I lifted my eyes and saw Mother sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. 'It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small,' she said. 'Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor,' I responded. During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.' I agreed. 'How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home. 'Very nice, much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered. A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Sometime later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined. An attached note said: 'I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but, nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. 'I love you, son' At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: 'I love YOU' and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till some 'other' time.

America First
Foreign Aid is a great thing. It’s America being kind, and exhibiting that kindness through our national generosity.
The total dollars we annually send to foreign nations in need is astronomical in proportions, yet we continue to send it without the first thought of repayment.
We’ve sent hundreds of billions of dollars year after year to countries that feel a sense of entitlement to our American bounty & truly aren’t grateful for the gift. They simply expect it, and still hate us when they cash the check.
Nonetheless, this is how we’ve behaved as global citizens since this nation won its independence over two and a quarter centuries ago.
My issue is when we have Americans in need, such as with Hurricane Katrina, the recent floods in the north, or any number of our national disasters, our American government offers the victims “low-interest loans” as opposed to the “gifts” we give other nations.
That seems less than I think we have every right to expect from our government.
In the wake of a natural disaster in the boundaries of America, American dollars should be used without hesitation to make suffering American citizens whole.
We are the only country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment - yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on all the TV networks, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies, much of which goes unused, stolen or sold because of mismanagement. Haiti was a cesspool before the earthquake, now we seem to have the goal of making them better than they were before their disaster.
Imagine if we gave ourselves the same support that we give other countries.
I feel bad for Haiti, and for other countries that have suffered natural catastrophes, but I wonder, who cares about America.
I swear that I do, and I assume you do as well, but by their very actions, and the offer of “lo-interest loans” as a remedy, how could we think that those self-serving duly elected officials in the halls of government in Washington, care as much about America as the voters that sent them there?
Do they really believe they were sent from their states and their districts to represent the citizens that voted for them, or do they assume themselves to represent the citizens of the world?
We can’t be a good global neighbor until we commit to caring for our own people.
America First!! Then we’ll be more fit to care for others.
New Pledge of Allegiance
Who really knows the original source of this. It’s been circulating on the internet for quite some time now, but I’ve never shared it as a Soap Box until today:
Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the word 'God' is mentioned.....
A kid wrote A NEW School prayer:
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks...
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles..
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take! Amen
Basic Rules for Clotheslines
You have to be a certain age to appreciate this. I can hear my mom now...
(If you don't know what clotheslines are, better skip this.)
1. You had to wash the clothesline before hanging any clothes. Walk the entire length of each line wiping the line with a damp cloth.
2. You had to hang the clothes in a certain order, and always hang "whites" with "whites," and hang them first.
3. You never hung a shirt by the shoulders - always by the tail! What would the neighbours think?
4. Wash day on a Monday . . . Never hang clothes on the weekend, certainly not Sunday, for Heaven's sake!
5. Hang the sheets and towels on the outside lines so you could hide your "unmentionables" in the middle (perverts & busybodies, y'know!)
6. It didn't matter if it was sub-zero weather .. Clothes would "freeze-dry."
7. Always gather the clothespins when taking down dry clothes! Pins left on the lines were "tacky!"
8. If you were efficient, you would line the clothes up so that each item did not need two clothes pins, but shared one of the clothespins with the next washed item.
9. Clothes had to be off the line before dinner time, neatly folded in the clothes basket, and ready to be ironed.
10. IRONED? Well, that's a whole other subject!
A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the "fancy sheets"
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the "company table cloths"
With intricate designs.
The line announced a baby's birth
From folks who lived inside -
As brand new infant clothes were hung,
So carefully with pride!
The ages of the children could
So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed,
You'd know how much they'd grown!
It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.
It also said, "Gone on vacation now"
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, "We're back!" when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare!
New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy and gray,
As neighbors carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way . . ..
But clotheslines now are of the past,
For dryers make work much less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is anybody's guess!
I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line!
