  • Fill Your Shoes

    FILL YOUR SHOES

When I was just a little boy
doing the things that little boys do
I'd put my feet in your great big shoes
and wonder if they'd ever fit me too.

On year it snowed and we took a walk
and I kept slipping and falling down
And you said "Son walk where my feet were"
it was the easiest way I'd found.

I'm grown up now and still it seems
I'm still walking in the prints you made
I've learned that I"ll never quite fill your shoes and that your foot
    prints will never quite fade.

Every boy needs a hero to look up to
and a pair of shoes to strive to fill
    A lot use cartoon characters
but my hero was alive and real

I'll never be the man that you were
and filling your shoes I simply can't do
But Dad I'll always do the best I know how
so you'll be proud of me as I am of you
