  Moby,

The song I heard you do on the radio this morning brought me to tears like
nothing has in a very long time. Yea see, mom passed away this past year
and left 3 boys and a girl. I am the oldest of the kids, our sister is the
youngest. She is 13 years younger than the youngest boy, 18 years younger
than I am. My "little brother" brought me back to Atlanta a couple of days
after my wife and daughter came home. We were talking about some of the
things that you expressed so well in the song, our sister being that much
younger is likely to have to watch her "Big Brother's" die. That part in
the song brought me to tears.

Sis did get a lot of extra attention growing up, mom and dad had more money
because they were more settled in life, dad wasn't worried about being laid
off, those kind of things that most young parents have to deal with and make
compromises on. None of the boys begrudged her those things, perhaps
because we understood, being older than normal siblings. But, some of the
other things that come out might surprise you, like we will all be setting
around discussing some childhood pranks or special memory and sis will
remind us that Gran'pa died before she was born so she didn't know him, or
that happened before I came into this world.

Sis is special to all of us, she added one more grand child for mom before
she passed away so I am an Uncle once again. She will always be almost as
much daughter as sister, she is only 4 years older than my own daughter.

Anyway the point of my letter is expressed in the subject line, put this
song in the "Platinum Album" and it might go PLATINUM. Moby I realize with
the length of time that the CD has been in the works it is already set in
stone, maybe a "Platinum Album, rides again" will include this one.

  Dear Moby,
I listen to you every morning while I throw my paper route, this
morning when I finished my route and had just gotten home I was just
about ready to turn the radio off to go into the house when I heard your
new song "Special Little Last Child." Although it may seem strange I it
made me think of my Great Grandmother, you see she was the last child
born in a family of about 12 children. She was also the last to die on
June 20, 1997 at the age of 95 we lost her to cancer. She was a very
strong and independent women who accepted everyone she met and never had
a bad word for anyone. She had outlived her husbeand who died in 1960
by 37 years and had also outlived all of her brother and sisters by the
time of her death. Most all of her friends who were around her age were
also gone by this time making her very lonley. Even though we have a
very large family you could tell that she was very lonely and missed
many of her friends and family who had already passed on.
She lived on a farm near Corpus Christi, Texas and was a very strong
and healthy woman up until about two months before her death. She had
Three children, seven grandchildren, and about fourteen great
grandchildren. After her husbands death in 1960 she countinued to live
on the farm which was then ran by her oldest daughters husband. After
she was diagnosed with cancer she was given the option of living the
rest of her days out in the hospital being taken care of by nurses or
being alowed to go home where she would be taken care of by her family.
She chose the later and it was not until she was already completely out
of it that they brought in a hospital bed to keep her from falling out
of bed. One of here grandchildren was with her the morning she died.
They say that she went peacefully in her sleep giving one last sigh and
  then she was gone.
She had eight pallbearers they consisted of her only grandson all of
her grandsonin-law and her two oldest Great-grandchildren, one of which
was me. These were the people she choose, however because there were
only room for six pallbearers to carry the casket the two great
grandchildren followed behind the casket. It was a bautiful service
which was given by her grandson who is a deacon at the baptist church in
Edna, Texas and afterward family and friends gathered at her house for
refreshments and friendship. This was the first time that I could
remember that the entire family was present at any type of get
together. I think she would have liked this.
I realize this is a long letter but I just thought you might want to
know what I thought of when I heard your new song "Special Little
  Child."

Ps: Your radio program is the first and only one that I have ever found
that I didn't mind the amount of talk between songs, because when you
talk it is always for a reason be it to inform or to entertain, I hope
your show will last until you are ready to retire as I feel it is the
best in a long long time. YEAH BABY!!

I heard this on the show yesterday morning on my way to work and I cried
  and cried.

I was Daddy's special little last child. When I was little he would ask me
"You're Daddy's little........" and I would answer "....Pride and joy."

We buried Dad a little over six months ago. He was at home and I was with
him until about and hour or so before he died. I had left to go home -
shower and fix my family supper. Mom called and he was gone.

He wasn't perfect and I'd never say he was the best dad in the world but he
loved us all fiercely ( me, my brother, and my sister) When I was growing up
I never felt that what I did was ever enough - that things just fell a
little short of his expectations. But in the last days before he died I
knew just how proud he was of how I turned out.

I still miss him - I guess I always will. But I hope someday we will be
together again, when they ring those golden bells.

  Moby,

Just had to write and tell you that I cried all the way through Special Little
Last Child. I was the youngest child in my family, born when my parents were
in their forties, and I was always pampered and protected as a child, but I
was still a young woman when my parents passed away within a few years of each
other, and I helped take care of my mother during her final illness.

Now I have children of my own and my youngest daughter is now 12 but I will be
almost 60 when she graduates from high school. That song really touched me
because it spoke to my situation almost exactly.

I love your show Moby. Listen to you every morning and appreciate how you try
to touch the hearts and emotions of your listeners. Keep up the good work!!!

I heard the new piece on the "Little Last Child" this morning. I was
laying on the bed beside my last child, a precious little 6 year old boy
named Michael. He was just waking up for school. Needless to say, I
wanted to stay there all day. I loved it. I believe that the only way
that Kicks is gonna get better is to let you run your own show. You are
in touch with the fans and they are in touch with you. Great Job Moby,
you are a real treasure to a lot of folkls.

    Moby,

Loved the song, but for God Sake PLEASE warn us tender hearted listeners,
that are driving on the highway,
BEFORE you play songs (or read poems) that are going to make all of us
blubber uncontrolably, possibly causing a 10 car pile up.
We become very emotional over the Three Trees, The Soldiers story, the
Policemans poem and such. I feel sorry for those unfortunate enough to be
driving around us. Seeing our makeup run and swerving to grap a tissue or
McDonalds napkin in the glove box.
So in the future, please advise your tender hearted dirving listeners to
    pull over & brace
    ourselves for a good cry.

You are my favorite I could listen to your show all day

I'm 6'3, 192 lbs. I'm a former Green Beret. Do I have your attention yet?

Picture this, Monday morning I'm in the gym working out and you play that
"Youngest Child" song. Here stands a father of 4 (the youngest a 5 year
old girl and special friend of mine), tears streaming down his cheeks. One
of the trainers came over to see if I'd hurt my self and all I could do was
blubber and point to my ear phones. She just laughed and walked away.

So, last night I'm telling my wife about this. She makes me promise to
call her at work if you ever play "it" again. No problem, I make the
promise thinking HAH! Moby got his butt chewed over this and there's no way
he'll ever play this song again.

So, here I am this morning, sitting in traffic, holding hands with my
special friend (we're on our way to school), and you go and start jabbering
about that song and I KNOW you are going to play that damned thing again.
So I pick up my cell phone, call my wife, she doesn't have a radio around
and I end up laying my cell phone on the car speaker so she can hear the
song. Four and half minutes later I managed to get the blubbering woman
    off the phone!

Question is what am I going to do with you. First thought that crossed my
mind was to hold you down and let Deborah beat you but then I thought,
nahhh, he'd like that too much. Don't think you're off the hook, I'm still
    thinking....

    Hey Moby

I heard Last Child this morning on my way to work for the first time.
To be honest I think you shouldn't play it anymore because I find that it's
really hard to driver while your crying your eyes out. For the safety of
you listeners and others please be careful with this!!!
Actually it's beautiful and really touching, you all did a wonderful job on
    it.

    Moby-

I must tell you that I was driving in to work this morning and heard this song. It really hit home and I started to cry.
I am the youngest of six children and we lost my father 3 years ago.
Also, on December 29, my father-in-law passed away. It was so sudden and that made it
even worse.
A healthy man gets diagnosed with Bronchitis on Friday,
and 3 days later passes away with congestive heart failure due to pneumonia.

Anyway, I loved this song and came to your site to see if
I could find the words so that I could let my husband read it.
Moby, you are the greatest and I love listening to you in the morning.
You really make my day. Thanks for being you!!!
