Moby Looks Back on '08, Forward to '09
Well, radio family, that blur in your mind's eye was an entire year. Where did 2008 go, and how did it go by so blamed fast?
As I think back over the past 12 months, we've seen a lot pass through the field of vision of our beloved radio family.
Most of it was just great, and even the not so good was pretty darned funny as I look back on it, and led to more friends and radio cousins coming on board.

The copperhead bite in September had to be the stupidest thing I did in 2008. But a loving wife and daughter, along with good medical care, saw me through it with no bad side-effects. (except of course for the snake. It didn't survive.) Thank you Dr. McBride & the staff at North Fulton Medical Center.
In the spring we joined up with Gary Craig and Travel is Fun for the Moby Cruise through the central Caribbean. We gave away some cruises, and lots of other radio cousins bought in. We had a ball, and proved that a high-quality broadcast can happen from the middle of the ocean at the speed of light. The ports of call made for great radio memories not soon to be forgotten.

In February we were in Nashville for the Country Radio Seminar, and back to Nashville in November for the CMA Awards, broadcasting live for two days with some of country music's hottest stars live on the air with us. What a hoot that was.
We had Fender Fridays in' 08 with weekly miniature guitar winners thanks to GMP miniatures, and capped it off with a Fender Telecaster as a grand prize.
And the kids were into our Hannah Montana Mondays that ended with a kid getting a Hannah Montana bicycle Helmet and bicycle.
The snow ski trip to Canaan Valley in West Virginia was a great prize for the winning radio cousin and three of her guests. They all had such a great time, I think they would have gone even if they'd known in advance that the winner's brother-in-law would break his leg so badly.
And of course we made two radio cousins extremely happy in December by giving away Yeah Baby and Moby custom guitars handcrafted by Jason Booth of Deadwood Guitars in Athens, Ga.
All in all, I'm happy with 2008 as I look back.

There were great interviews with country stars and newsmakers from entertainment, country music, the American military (thank you for the time Admiral Keating) and politics (thank you Saxby Chambliss, Newt Gingrich and so on). We had the opportunity to speak with the hottest country stars (Toby Keith, Taylor Swift, Trace Atkins, Kellie Pickler, Jessica Simpson, Billy Ray
Cyrus).
We had several chats with the legends (Donna Fargo, Aaron Tippin, Bill Anderson, and a couple of chats with the late Jerry Reed). Jerry's last CD, The Gallant Few, has my song "Till the 4th of July" on it. Jerry loved that song, and I loved him. We became good friends before he went home to Glory.)
Ups and downs, ins and outs, a 12 month long thrill ride. It was 2008 on the Moby in the Morning Show.
2009 will find many new things.
I'm going to sing the National anthem for the NHL on Jan 29, and I'll be hosting the opening ceremonies for the Winter Games of Special Olympics in February.
2009 will be a great year. I'm sure of it.
The basis for all we do has always been and will always be, Fear of God, Love of Country and Respect for Authority. Tell your friends, family and neighbors that they're all welcome to be an active part of the love, fellowship and good country music we share each day.
The economy might stink, but there are no dues to be a member of this club we call the Moby in the Morning Radio Family.
